Sideline is a twitter search desktop client by Yahoo! The application is made with the Adobe Air framework, which allows the application to run under Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Now, this is not your regular Twitter client. It is more of a Twitter search engine. With Sideline, you can search for specific keywords and find Twits that contain them.
When you first start the application, you will be shown the most popular keywords at the moment. When I used it, "swine flu", "pirates" and "conficker" were among those. When you click a keyword, Sideline will show you several users who "twitter" about that word or, in other words, make a post about it. You can also create your own searches that you can access at any time.
You can look for a keyword and add several other factors such as date of creation, last read, etc. Moreover, you also get to add certain searches and keywords to your favorite's folder, so you don't have to browse through all of them every time that you need to do a specific search. That is a time-saver. The application's GUI is very clean up to a point, and the application itself is very easy to use and intuitive. |
